Health Professionals

I am so pleased to have a patient group to work with as we develop policy to protect them through the regulation of RNs and NPs. I suspect other regulators will want to engage with you as well.
Wonderful, helpful, supportive with good ideas to make the project successful on many levels.
I found the process to be extremely helpful and productive. PVN [was] able to successfully facilitate my search for patient reps.

Coaching Participants

I was encouraged to brainstorm ideas, set some goals and create the beginnings of a plan. Thank you for this opportunity.

Placement Opportunities

For all of my professional life, I tried to make changes to how care was delivered to improve care for people. At every turn, the biggest obstacles to change was MDs. And because they were fee for service, and didn't ever really want to, have time to, thought it was a waste of time, never have participated in any meaningful change. Then when, I acquired a chronic disease and had to make my way through the system. I was appalled at how wasteful a lot of it is. I truly believe there is enough money in the system, and that MDs have a major part in the spending in how they practice and make decisions around care, I welcomed the opportunity to have some input at this level.
I think PVN has to build trust and respect as we are only just out of the "starting gate". I think our participation in this conference was a good start. I believe our input will gradually be sought more and more as we begin to build a relationship with this group through respectful, knowledgeable, positive participation.

Shaping the System

The most positive outcome of the Forum for me was meeting and talking in depth with health care professionals working within the system who have many of the same concerns as I do and who are trying to create change. This made me feel more like I was a part of a community of care and cut through the adversarial stance that I think we tend to carry as patient advocates.
I am so honoured to be able to do this (be part of the Patient Voices Network.) It is a passion of mine and I have never known how to get involved. Patients need to have a say at all levels of healthcare.
I think it will be very important for us as patients to realize that the significant changes that need to happen won't happen overnight, but that each little "gem" of input that we provide has the potential to eventually have a ripple effect that will transfer into a successful system that works!

Training Sessions

I really look forward to being a peer coach and feel equipped with knowledge and abilities. This was an empowering & motivating training.

Since having a chronic disease, this is the first time I’ve felt so important. There is something about me that can help someone else. Excited to be involved.

My brain juices were flowing after such an exciting and invaluable training weekend.

Many thanks for all of the effort you and your co-workers put into the training session on the weekend. It was great learning and lots of fun.

Thank you!! I really enjoyed the training, atmosphere, people and knowledge shared.
Awesome! Learned a lot about me
I liked the whole concept, the way our tax dollars were put to work
Now I'm more hopeful that PVN will help health authorities to connect with regular people
